Vincent Van Gogh

On March 30,1853 Vincent Van Gogh one of the world soon to be most known and most successful artist was born. He was born in the Small town of Groot Zundert near Brussels. He was born from his mother Cornelia and father Theodorus. His mother didn't have a job, but his father was a protestant minister. He had 5 siblings Anna, Theo, Elizabeth, Wilhelmien, and Cornelius. He went to a catholic elementary school and switched schools for middle. He never got married and was rejected so many times he moved to art to express his true love. 5 Major events that happened in his lifetime were, Czar Nicholas the first of Russia died, Charles Darwin published " Origins of the species", Lincoln was elected president of the USA, Civil War in America, and French captured Mexico City.
Throughout Van Gogh's life he suffered with mental Illness, inability to foster relationships, and suicidal tendencies. Van Gogh's paintings were not popular while he was alive, but after he died they became of great value. He used mostly water colors which was a new idea for painting in the post- impressionism time period they were living in. His most famous works where, Starry Night, The Bedroom and Sunflowers. He had many other paintings that many people know and love. One of my favorites is Café Terrace at Night, it was a sort of abstract painting of a café in the night off of a road in the middle of Italy. Another one of my favorites was Sunflowers which was one of his most famous, it was of a vase of sunflowers, but the way he used the water colors with the orange and yellow hues was just truly amazing.
