Through the Window

Windows are a way of everyone seeing and viewing the world. Growing up I would always look through the same window in the living room of my house. I have never moved before so I have always been able to see the changes in the world through this window as I have grown up. Looking out as a child I only saw the abstract part of the world, the trees and houses across the street, the sunrise and sunset. As I got older I started to see more changes and started trying to figuring out why things changed. When I was 10 the old lady across the street passed away, and I remember watching out the window at the moving trucks coming and taking away all of what was left of her. The house turned into a rental property. I would wait for months for the empty house to have someone come and use it as a home as did the old lady. I would get up every morning and go look out the window and try to see into the house but it was always empty. Finally after a few months a lady moved in. I was excited that the house had a purpose now. The lady really enjoyed gardening, so the gravel in the driveway was slowly moved to the side of the tree in the center. She started laying down the soil, then the flowers. I grew up watching this house going from empty and run down to a beautiful home. The flowers remind me of the old lady and how sweet she was. The flowers in my heart help me always remember her and how she was so amazing to me growing up. It isn't the window that has a story but what you see through it. When I move out and come back, I cannot wait to see what has changed sitting in that window with my own kids and telling them the memories I had looking through that window when I was their age.
